At Iron + Ivy Hair Studio, we believe that the quality of your hair extension result starts long before we pick up a strand of hair. It starts with the consultation. Every extension client — whether new or returning — begins here, and it’s the most important appointment you’ll book with us.

Why a Consultation Is Essential

Hair extensions are a significant investment — in your time, your budget, and your hair’s health. Getting them right requires a thorough understanding of your natural hair, your goals, and the right products and methods for your specific situation. A consultation isn’t a formality; it’s where we build the plan that ensures your result is everything you hoped for.

We do not book hair extension appointments for new clients without a prior consultation.

What Happens at Your Consultation?

Hair Assessment
We examine your natural hair’s density, texture, health, and porosity to determine which extension method is most suitable and safe for your hair type. We’ll also assess your hair’s growth patterns to ensure optimal placement.

Goal Discussion
We talk through exactly what you want to achieve — more length, more volume, or both. We’ll look at reference images together and be honest with you about what’s realistically achievable with your hair and chosen method.

Colour Matching
We colour-match your extensions to your natural hair using our extensive shade range from Bellami and Great Lengths. If you’re planning to colour your hair before getting extensions, we’ll advise on timing.

Method Recommendation
Based on your hair assessment and goals, we’ll recommend the best application method — K-Tip, Volume Weft, or a combination — and explain how each works.

Pricing and Booking
We’ll provide a full quote for your service and, if you’d like to proceed, take your non-refundable booking fee to secure your appointment.

What to Bring to Your Consultation

• Reference photos — anything that shows the length, volume, or colour you’re going for
• Your hair in its natural state if possible (air-dried, no styling products)
• Any questions you have — there are no silly questions here

How Long Is the Consultation?

Consultations typically take 30–45 minutes. They are complimentary for all new extension clients.
